Under 13's Record Victory over Ards

Downpatrick Under 13's secured an impressive 27-run victory over their Ards counterparts at the Strangford Road this past Friday evening. Choosing to bat first, the hosts set Ards a total of 111-3 from their 20 overs; Ewan McCartney was the pick of the batsmen for Downpatrick, scoring 45 (including 5 fours). Other contributors with the bat for Downpatrick were Harry Hitchens (10), Dan Browne (13) and Richard Ferguson (14).

The Ards batting response looked promising, however Downpatrick's bowlers took key wickets at important times to ensure that the visitors could not maintain a partnership to endanger the allotted target. Ards batted all 20 overs and finished with a score of 84-4. Downpatrick wicket-takers on the night were Dan Browne, Paddy Browne, Brian Perry and Harry Hitchens.
